India’s southern Odisha state, near the border of Andhra Pradesh state has (the east coast) been hit by a tropical cyclone with winds gusting up to 140 mph.
It made landfall at approx 9pm last night, bringing with it heavy rains and a storm surge of up to 6-7 metres in some places.
Many people have been ordered to evacuate, with the military being deployed to distribute relief materials and first aid.
