Officers from ACBPS happy to have these weapons off our streets
A tip of from a member of public has lead to the arrest of a 43 year old Melbourne man and the seizure of 6000 illegally imported weapons.
Australian Customs and Border Protection Services (ACBPS) have prevented the importation of the weapons, some of which were Tasers disguised as Iphones and torches.

The container was delivered to a tool shop in the Victorian suburb of Thomastown. Officers from ACBPS searched the container, only to find the weapons concealed between blankets and fitness equipment.
As well as the disguised Tasers, knuckledusters, electric shock devices and extendable batons were found.

Whilst these weapons are more than likely sold legally in China, and are not a new concept in other countries, Australia has yet to see such an influx of disguised weapons.
The 43 year old man has been arrested for the importation of the contraband. If found guilty, the maximum penalty would be a fine of $425,000 and / or up to 10 years imprisonment.
This isn’t the first time that we have reported on camouflaged weapons. Tear gas lipstick amongst other items were found during this seizure.
