Let’s hope that next week is a better one for the Port of Singapore.
On the 29th & 30th January respectively there were two collisions in Singapore’s waters causing oil to be spilled into the Port.
The first incident occurred between a Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker, Lime Galaxy which collided with the China-flagged container ship, Feihe. This happened approx 2.7km south of Jurong Island.

The second collision was approx 4km south of Marina South in the East Keppel Fairway between a Panama-flagged container ship, NYK Themis, and a barge, AZ Fuzhou.

In both collisions, the bunker tank on one of the vessels sustained damage. The Feihe and also the NYK Themis reported damage, which resulted in the spillage of some bunker fuel.
MPA Singapore has advised that they continue to co-ordinate the containment and clean up of the oil/fuel spillages. Response craft and personnel using oil booms and skimmers have resulted in significant improvements to Singapore’s port waters.
Vessel traffic remained unaffected.
