China is moving forward with the research on the potential use of unmanned ships.
Back in March 2014, we bought you a look at these “drone” vessels, with Rolls Royce being the big mover behind the designs for crewless cargo ships.
A little over one year on, China’s Maritime Safety Administration says the project, called “Unmanned Multifunctional Maritime Ships Research and Development Project”, has received unanimous approval to move forward with it’s research.
The project was first established in 2012 by the China Maritime Safety Administration along with its partner Wuhan University of Technology and, after 3 years, the project has completed development and won four national patents, the Administration said.
Bring on the robot ships!
