Shipping line NYK has recently taken delivery of their newest cutting edge vessel, the NYK Blue Jay.
The NYK Blue Jay features a hull form that improves cargo-loading efficiency by minimising engine room space. This uniquely designed container ship promises energy saving equivalent to that of a much larger ships.
With the ship’s main engine being equipped with the world’s first (and patent pending) system it features two completely separate power ranges which are optimised for higher speeds as well as slow steaming. The energy savings and optimised fuel consumption is equivalent to the mega-ships that have 20,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units) carrying capacity.
