Three hundred and one kilograms of cocaine has been discovered in a shipment of sugar arriving into the suburb of Peliyagoda in Sri Lanka.
The contraband arrived in two shipping containers from Brazil (via Portugal).
The sugar consignment had been imported under the name of a importer that had been importing for over 25 years.
Police suspect that the cocaine had been imported into Sri Lanka in order to be re-exported.
The total value of the seizure is approx four billion rupees.
