The throughput port statistics for 2014 are out with Shanghai, China being crowned the world’s busiest port.
We had previously reported on Shanghai ports 2012 numbers in which Shanghai handled 32.5 million twenty foot shipping containers. in 2013, 33.77 million twenty foot containers were moved.
Now let there be a drum roll for the 2014 numbers………. 35.29 MILLION TWENTY FOOT shipping containers have moved through Shanghai Port.
The closest port rival to Shanghai is Singapore. Singapore port handled 30.96 million twenty foot containers in 2014.
Now that’s a lot of containers…
