Shipping container shelters with interpretive stories and graphics are part of the Rous Head Ocean Walk project.

Fremantle Ports’ Rous Head Ocean Walk project was awarded a commendation in the visual communication category at the recent Design Institute of Australia Awards.
As part of the development of the Rous Head Industrial Park, Fremantle Ports constructed a striking cluster of shelters from refurbished shipping containers complemented with natural landscaping, renewable energy lighting and drinking fountains.
Working with landscape architects Blackwell & Associates, Turner Design applied interpretive stories and graphics directly onto the corrugated walls in a strong maritime industrial style.
Turner Design also designed interpretive plaques that were integrated into the seating and informational signage (above) for a sanctuary set aside for fairy terns .
