The one-way works are expected to start on Wednesday 27 May and will take about 2-3 weeks to complete.
The trial, for a period of six months, will see traffic continue to enter Birksgate Road off Rous Head Road. Traffic heading out of Birksgate Road from the east and wishing to exit the port or access other parts of Rous Head will be required to turn right into Rudderham Drive to exit.
The 1-way trial is to resolve safety issues associated with occasional queuing in the area and to formalise the current process of placing temporary barriers in the area.
If successful, the changes may become permanent.
