Pot seized at Jamaica Port

Over 450kgs of marijuana has been discovered in two shipping containers on Kingston wharf in Jamaica.

Jamaican narcotics authorities found ten duffel bags (again with the gym bags!) during their investigations. The duffel bags were stuffed with compressed marijuana.   One shipping container had approx 450kgs of marijuana hidden inside, destined for Suriname. Approx 35kgs of marijuana was located in another shipping container that was bound for the Netherlands.

Whilst authorities partially decriminalized the possession of small amounts of pot in Jamaica earlier this year, they have not softened their stance on transnational drug trafficking or cultivation of illegal marijuana plots.

No arrests have been made.

In August last year, USD1.3 million dollars of cocaine was located in a shipping container that arrived in Kingston from Suriname.
