Who can believe we’re already half way through 2020! What a year it has been. The second half of the year tends to be even faster (is that possible), so now is the time to start thinking of you planning for the Peak Season ahead.
Keeping ahead of the rush is critical in ensuring that you don’t end up with a unbearable migraine along with late cargo arrivals this year.
Avoiding peak season induced stress is relatively simple. Order early. It’s that easy. Instead of ordering your goods in late October to arrive in the middle of December, why not plan ahead and order a few months earlier, ensuring that your goods don’t arrive during the busy rush time.
We’ve put together a short checklist to ensure your end of year is hassle free..
1. The biggest, and we believe the most important, is early ordering.
Provide a reasonable amount of time for your supplier to manufacture the goods. As soon as goods are ordered, notify our office immediately so we can arrange our agents to liaise with your supplier. This step is the most important – vessels are already filling up even as this post is published – if you advise us of your orders early we are able to book your space on board ASAP.
2. Ensuring that your supplier is aware of all documentation requirements – and that documentation is required at the earliest possible time.
Educate them on the necessary paperwork that is needed to import your goods.

3. Organising telex release for the bill of lading early.
Alternatively, if you require an original house bill of lading to be sent to you, ensure that your supplier has the correct address details to courier documents to you within a timely manner.
For shipments under Letter of Credit, a statement should be included on your instructions to the bank that the Original documentation must be sent to the bank within 3-7 days of the estimated time of departure.Then arrange for the release of funds prior to the vessel arrival into Australia to obtain the original documentation in time.
4. Knowing where your container is to be delivered.
If your container is to be dropped off in an obscure location, a mud map of where you would like the container to go is preferred. Remember, if your space is near breaking point, let us know and we can arrange storage in our Cockburn Central warehouse.
5. Always notify us immediately when your container is empty and ready to be picked up.
