As we are heading into the Peak Season for importers once again, the Western Australia Port Operations Task Force have released a notice reminding Importers of containerised goods through Fremantle Port to “play their part in reducing the risk of congestion, delivery delays and associated extra costs as Christmas approaches.”
Following on from the successful implementation of contingency arrangements in 2012 and 2013, the “WA Port Operations Task Force has continued working with industry to minimise the impact of trade build up over Christmas – New Year Peak”
The notice however made a point of a concerning trend “Despite the success of the past two peak seasons, last year’s statistics show that some traders are drifting back to demanding December deliveries. The total number of December containers in 2013 was nearly equivalent to the levels experienced in the difficult 2011 season. ”
In order to avoid the significant delays experienced in 2011, we urge you to arrange orders now to help avoid any possible bottlenecks, delays and additional costs.
