Off-Grid streetlights have been installed in the Rous Head Industrial Park by Fremantle Ports.
These amazing lights have been designed in the South West of Western Australia, Bunbury, by a company called BSE. They consist of a magnetic levitation wind turbines that rotate in lighter wind conditions and have no mechanical friction to slow them down. They also sport a slim solar panel which eliminate the need to have standard, fixed and rigid solar panels, thus creating a streamlined design.
Equipped with hidden batteries, the 10 lights that have been installed will last a minimum of two days without sun or wind.
With the cost of installing these lights, it is roughly similar to the standard on-grid lighting. With maintenance costs also around the same price, the main attraction is, of course, no power costs.
