The MSC Oliver returned from sea trials over the weekend of the 21st-22nd March.
This new container ship joins the MSC Oscar, it’s sister ship, as being the worlds largest container ships. Both vessels can hold a record breaking amount of shipping containers, 19,224 twenty foot containers!
The vessel is due for delivery to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in April and will service MSC’s new East-West trade route between Europe and Asia.
The MSC Oliver and the MSC Oscar will be joined by a further 18 vessels all with the capacity to hold over 19,000 twenty foot containers. The Oliver and Oscar are part of the Olympic Series – there will six of these vessels in total.
