Massive congestion at U.S.’ largest container ports

Escalating cargo congestion is being experienced in the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach – two of the United States busiest ports.

Between eight to fifteen container ships are anchored waiting outside the two ports on any given day.  The back log has begun ever since mid October, which is delaying last minute holiday merchandise.

“On a normal day, we rarely have ships waiting at anchor unless they want to be there,” Phillip Sanfield, a spokesman for the Port of Los Angeles advised.

Los Angeles and Long Beach are ranked number 1 and number 2 container ports by volume, together handling 43 percent of containerized goods entering the United States.

Delays are currently being experienced not only for import cargo into the United States, but also for export cargo that is being shipped out.

If your shipment has been delayed, we will contact you accordingly.
