Maritime Union Vs DP World Strike Update

New stoppages listed for this week

A fresh round of strikes will take place this week at MELBOURNE, also at SYDNEY and, for the first time in the current round of work stoppages, at BRISBANE.

A lock-out of employees has been scheduled by employer DP World Australia (DPWA) in response.

Notification of a fresh round of protected industrial action has been provided by the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) to stevedore DPWA in support of the union’s enterprise agreement bargaining positions.

UPDATED SCHEDULE for protected and employer response action this week:

SYDNEY

MUA action

(NEW) • Monday December 15, 10am – 2pm, 6pm – 10pm

(NEW) • Tuesday December 16, 2am – 6am (3 x 4-hour stoppages)

DP World Australia lock out in response

(NEW) • Monday December 15, 10am – Tuesday December 6am

 

MELBOURNE

Operations will cease 6:30am Wednesday, December 17 and resume at 10:30pm the same day.

MUA action

(NEW) • Wednesday December 17, 12:30pm – 4:30 pm (coverage over two shifts)

DP World Australia lock out in response

(NEW) • Wednesday December 17, 6:30am – 10:30 pm

 

BRISBANE

(NEW) Operations will cease at 7am on Wednesday, December 17 and resume at 3pm on Thursday, December18.

MUA action

(NEW) Wednesday December 17, 7am – Thursday December 18, 7am (3 x 8-hour stoppages)

(NEW) Thursday December 18, 7am – 3pm

 

FREMANTLE

Operations will cease at 6am on Tuesday, December 16 and resume at 6am on Wednesday, December 17.

• Fri December 12 – indefinite bans on overtime and shift extensions begin.
