International mail and air cargo arriving into Australia under go the exact same scrutiny as cargo landing on our shores via sea freight.
A 28-year-old woman along with a 29-year-old man, both from Mildura NSW, have been arrested following warrants being executed in six different locations.
The investigation began when officers from the Australian Border Force (ABF) identified several concealment’s of the drug GBL in the Sydney and Melbourne air cargo facilities.
GBL is a precursor to the drug GBH. GBH is a nervous system depressant and also sometime called Fantasy.
The drugs that were located in the cargo were in tablet, powder and liquid forms. The origin of the contraband was Asia and Europe.
The pair will be interviewed in relation to drug offenses and trafficking.
Joint Task Force Icarus, with members drawn from the Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and Victoria Police, is a joint agency task force that targets those who seek to use the international mail and air cargo systems for criminal activity.
