The new Japan Advanced Filing Rules are being implemented in March 2014.
These new rules requires shipping lines and freight forwarders to report all cargo prior to loading on the vessel destined for Japan no later than 24 hours prior to vessel departure (from the port of loading).
These rules closely resemble the United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) 24 hour rule and have been introduced to provide increased security to the global supply chain. By enhancing control at the border by obtaining all maritime container cargo information at an earlier point, it is hoped that Japan Customs can keep a closer eye on cargo arriving on their shores.
EES Shipping would like to highlight the importance of supplying all pertinent documentation within a timely manner to ensure that we can, in turn, provide the correct details to Japan Customs.
We appreciate your assistance in providing relevant documentation in order for us to comply with the above.
