Increased Security at Australian Cargo Facilities

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) have warned of increased cargo intervention across Australian cargo facilities.

“We are working collaboratively with our law enforcement partners, and the Office of Transport Security to ensure appropriate levels of vigilance are applied to cargo screening and examinations to further enhance ABF’s (Australian Border Force) capability to detect and intercept high-risk goods.

The ABF is committed to working with industry to minimise delays in facilitating the movement of people and goods across the Australian border whilst also maintaining an on-going high level of security.

Facilitating trade remains a priority for the ABF as we focus on protecting the safety of our community.

We appreciate the understanding and support from industry and the community.

This increased security activity by the Australian Border Force could cause delays to all import and export cargo moving in and out of Australia.
