Important notice of industrial action

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND WATER RESOURCES (QUARANTINE) 6TH – 16TH NOVEMBER

Please take the time to read this document, notice-to-industry-96-2015, with regards to possible delays in deliveries of Quarantine affected containers.

With Industrial Action afflicting Australian Border Force (ABF) operations, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has advised that members of the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) within the Department will take Protected Industrial Action from today (6th November) to 16th November, which will result in significant disruption to quarantine container & cargo inspection services.

The Industrial Bans will affect:

  • Tailgate Inspections
  • Giant African Snail Inspections
  • Vessel Inspections
  • Imported Food Control Inspections
  • Data Entry & face-to-face contact with clients (applicable to Import Cargo Declarations)

The Department expects that the actions will cause disruption to normal services, and says it is implementing “contingency arrangements and working with clients and other government agencies to minimise the disruption.”

Please take note of these dates and ensure that delays and possible additional costs are factored into your cost of business.
