The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) came into force on the 20th December 2015. Since then exporters and importers from and to China have been scrambling to ensure that all documentation is correct and received in good time, allowing for correct concessions to be applied.
Here at EES our brokers have been busy providing information to our clients on this ground breaking agreement.
Today we thought that we would share with you a list of informative websites that have recently been complied by legal service providers, Gadens.
- The DFAT website provides an excellent Guide to importing and exporting under ChAFTA including an extensive FAQ section which is updated regularly. This is in addition to the general ChAFTA website.
- The DIBP website provides extensive information on ChAFTA and the “border” issues. There is also an “Instruction and Guideline” document and a new Notice.
- HK Customs has established a “transhipment guide“.
- DFAT also provides its “FTA portal” which is another excellent resource enabling access to information on ChAFTA (and the other North Asia FTAs in KAFTA and JAEPA).
- The Export Council of Australia (ECA) has its own “FTA Tool” which provides another means to secure information on ChAFTA and has another version under development. For those with interest in the operation and use of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone (SFTZ) the ECA recently released a comprehensive report on the SFTZ along with an associated app.
