A month long operation between the Thai and Australian Police has resulted in two men being arrested in Thailand for attempting to import 168 kilograms of heroin into Australia.

With a street value of up to $95 million, the drugs were packaged in a reefer container manifested as seafood. The men, one Malaysian and the other from Thailand, both in their mid 40’s, used a marine-life export company’s office to repackage the narcotics to be sent with the seafood products to Australia.
The seized heroin carried the Lion on Globe logo, which reportedly originated from Myanmar, and was found packed in 420 small packets and hidden in 23 boxes of seafood.
“Earlier this year the AFP obtained intelligence which suggested a transnational organised crime syndicate was planning an importation of a significant quantity of heroin into Australia from Thailand,” Assistant Commissioner Jabbour said – AFP National Manager Serious and Organised Crime.
“This significant seizure and drug syndicate disruption is the result of successful cooperation between Thailand and Australia,” Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Tuangtong said – Royal Thai Police Narcotics Suppression Bureau Commissioner.
