The China Golden Week holidays are coming up fast. We are currently experiencing the usual space problems from China as we move closer to peak season. With the upcoming week long holiday, suppliers in China will also be working hard to clear the stock from their warehouses – this will cause even more space issues for cargo from all areas.
We have received notice from our overseas agent, M+R Forwarding, that from 1st October until 7th October 2019, all of China will be closed due to National Day Golden Week, resuming work on the 8th of October 2019. Their Hong Kong office will be closed on the 1st October 2019.
Note that these holidays are after the Mid Autumn festival which sees China offices close from the 13-15th September. Hong Kong offices will close for one day only, the 15th September.
It is essential that you advise your suppliers should you have shipments arriving in Australia/Departing China during this period that you obtain copies of all customs clearance documents:-
- Bill of Lading (original/telex release)
- Commercial Invoices/Packing Lists
- Container Packing Declaration
- Original Fumigation Certificates
Note, without the required and correct documentation EES will be unable to clear customs and deliver cargo, receiving the above documentation on time will avoid delays on arrival and possible extra storage and demurrage charges.
Should you have any difficulties please talk to EES personnel immediately or contact us via email.
Please note that during this time in October some shipping lines will also omit ports and remove vessels from schedules. Delays are expected during this period.
