CBFCA National Conference 2013

From the 24-26 October, the CBFCA (Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc) held its annual National Conference in Canberra.

Two of EES’ staff members Brian Hack, Director, and Roy Max, Customs Broker, were in attendance.

The annual National Conference is an important part of EES’ calender, as it brings together all parts of our industry, including regulators, industry stakeholders and service providers. The focus is on co-ordinated border management and the reduction of impact to trade.

This year, the conference emphasis was on ecomonic trade agreements ie  Free Trade Agreements and the Security and Bio-security implications in relations the these joint Trade Agreements.  There was also the spotlight on regulatory reforms and continuing professional development.

The roles of non-government organisations in trade facilitation was also discussed. The director general, Mr Marco Sorgetti from FIATA discussed their role in this area.

The two days of conferences were very informative and we look forward to passing on relevant information from our experience.
