EES embraces paperless

In a move to streamline operations and to be more environmentally friendly, as of 1st April 2015 EES Shipping will only be sending out email copy invoicing.

As our valued client we feel that we must remind you of the law relating to retention of documentation pertaining to imported goods:

“Section 240 of the Customs Act requires that all documents relating to imported goods be retained for 5 years after the date of entry for home consumption.”

“Maximum Penalty: $5,000.00”

Documents required to be kept for this period: Customs Entry, Copy Bill, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Packing Declaration, Fumigation Certificate (if required), Certificate of Origin (if required), FTA (if required).

EES Shipping will continue to store electronic copies (& backups) of all documents received from you or your supplier used in the Customs / DAFF clearance of your goods, but the onus is still on the importer to do the same.

We thank you for your support and we hope this step inspires you to look at moving towards a paper free environment too.
