Drug bust at major port

Caucedo is a small port located on the south coast of the Dominican Republic..

The Anti-narcotics Agency (DNCD) on the 12th April seized 1,248 bricks (more than 1.5 tons) presumably cocaine at Caucedo port, hidden in canned beans inside a container from Panama headed to Belgium.

The drug was found in the container # TCLU-735969-1 aboard the ship Bella Schulte from Panama, docked at Caucedo on April 5, headed to Antwerp, Belgium.

The DNCD said a K-9 dog sniffed the shipment and alerted agents to the presence of the drug, one of the biggest busts in recent years.

Drug confiscations at Caucedo port have become commonplace, given the high number of containers managed at the facility located near Boca Chica.
