DP World’s latest crane (centre) was officially launched
DP World Australia Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah, together with DP World Fremantle General Manager, John Ward, officially launched the company’s new ZPMC post-panamax crane at North Quay on Tuesday 14th April.

The new twin lift crane matches the post-Panamax cranes used by DP World Australia in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. It was shipped to Fremantle with its sister crane, which went on to Sydney in March 2015.
The crane measures 38 metres of lift above the wharf with an outreach of 50 metres.

The crane is the second post-panamax crane for DP World in Fremantle and the fifth in the Fremantle Inner Harbour.
“We’re very excited about this crane coming in,” said Mr Scurrah.
“This crane can handle post-Panamax ships. Its capacity is almost double its predecessor due to improvement in hoist speed and twin-lifting capabilities.
“We’re investing in the future knowing that bigger ships will be calling here.”
The ZPMC crane in Fremantle boasts:
- a rated capacity under spreader of 65 tonnes and under heavy lift beam of 80 tonnes
- an outreach of 50 metres, with a rail gauge of 25.3 metres
- a hoist height above rail of 38 metres
- a hoist speed of 90 metres/minute loaded and 180 metres/minute unloaded
- a cross travel speed of 240 metres/minute.
Its sister crane is currently being commissioned at Port Botany.
