Today, June 25th is the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Day of the Seafarer.
This day is held every year to honour the 1.5 million seafarers working around the world.
This year, the IMO’s Secretary-General, Koji Sekimizu, has asked the international community to come together and show support for the seafarers by completing the sentence “Seafarers bought me…” on their website. They are also asking that you share your answers on social media using the #ThankYouSeafarers.
There have already been some fantastic entries (peoples responses flow down the bottom of the screen for all to see). People are thanking the seafarers for different items, cars, food, air conditioners and TV’s.
What will be your entry? Mine was “Seafarers bought me my awesome career”.. Corny, I know!
