Incase you have been living under a rock, or away from our blog, today is a special day for the maritime industry. It’s the day that the amendments to the SOLAS convention come into force.
After months and months of discussions, confusion and then understanding, from today it will now be mandatory to provide your nominated shipping line with the verified gross mass (VGM) of your shipping container PRIOR to it being loaded onto the vessel. No VGM = no load.
This is a worldwide requirement and such an important piece of the supply chain puzzle.
