A joint operation between the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) has once again siezed another shipment of methamphetamine into Australia.
Two Taiwanese men have been arrested after allegedly importing 18 kilograms of methamphetamine that was hidden inside machinery sent from China.
The AFP and ACBPS examined the consignment, which consisted of wooden crates containing six metal blocks with grinding wheels. Once the dugs were found, they substituted them with an inert substance. A controlled delivery was then made to a residence in the Sydney suburb of Marsfield.
A 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both Taiwanese nationals, were then arrested after accessing the consignment to retrieve the concealed substance.
Both men have been charged with attempt to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border controlled drug, namely methamphetamine.
If the men are found guilty, the maximum penalty is life imprisonment.
