Australian Customs and Border Protection Services (ACBPS) have been busy once again intercepting drugs bound for Australian streets.
The shipment of tennis racquets arrived into Australia from Singapore via the Sydney Mail Centre.
Upon x-raying the consignment, officers noticed inconsistencies. Further examinations were made, with the discovery of pink and yellow granules being found – this being consistent with ContacNT.
ContacNT contains high levels of pseudoephedrine, which is a precursor chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
ACBPS Acting National Manager Cargo Operations, John Ikin warns the public that “People should be aware that attempting to import drugs or precursors into Australia is a serious crime, and if convicted they could face lengthy gaol time.”
Those caught importing prohibited goods, such as ContacNT, could face a fine of up to $170,000 and/or five years in prison.
