Cocaine found on cruise ship

Three Canadian nationals, a 63-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman and a 23-year old woman have been arrested by Australia Federal Police (AFP) officers after the discovery of cocaine in their suitcases on board cruise ship the Sea Princess.

The Sea Princess was berthed in Sydney Harbour when Australian Border Force (ABF) officers, boarded the cruise ship searching the vessel for drugs.  A number of cabins were searched with a whopping 95kgs of cocaine being discovered.

All three Canadian Nationals will face the Sydney Local Court charged with importing a commercial quantity of cocaine.

The maximum penalty for this offense is life imprisonment.

“Drug syndicates should be on notice that the Australian Border Force is aware of all the different ways they attempt to smuggle drugs into our country and we are working with a range of international agencies to stop them,” ABF Assistant Commissioner, Strategic Border Command Clive Murray said.
