China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA)

 

With the impending China-Australia Free Trade Agreement due to be implemented on December 20th 2015, please take note of the below documentation required to enable you to claim any duty exemptions if in the scope of the agreement.

Please note, NOT ALL GOODS WILL BE DUTY FREE. Please take the time to discuss with your suppliers the additional documentation required on each and every shipment.

The following are the two authorised bodies in China to issue the Certificate of Origin (COO) or Declaration of Origin (DOO):

1 AQSIQ: General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine where the actual certificates will be issued by provincial Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureaus, which are administered by AQSIQ

2 The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade

The commencement of the ChAFTA brings with it an immediate round of tariff cuts and a further round of cuts on 1 January 2016.
