Singapore’s already polluted water has again taken a battering.
At approx 1535hrs on the 10th February the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore received a report that a collision had occurred between a departing container ship “Hammonia Thracium” and a chemical tanker “Zoey”.
The incident occurred approx 10km south of mainland Singapore, in the Singapore Straight (off Sebarok Island).
The Hammonia Thracium has reported that one of her bunker tanks sustained damage in the collision – with approx 80 tonnes of fuel oil being spilled. Four patrol craft were sent to deal with the spillage.
There has been no report of injury, with port operations not being affected.
This incident follows two separate collisions on the 29th and 30th January.
