In an industry seemingly obsessed with builder bigger and better container ships a Norwegian ship owner has taken delivery of a brand new vessel, the MSC Eloane.
This mega ship was built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries and can hold a whopping 19,500 twenty foot containers.
The handing over of this vessel comes as many speculate that the demise of Hanjin Shipping – one of the worlds largest shipping lines – was due to a severe overcapacity stemming from these ultra large vessels.
