In the wake of the devastating terror attacks in Brussels, the Australian Border Force (ABF) Immigration and Border Protection staff have confirmed that their scheduled strike action will now be postponed.
Big disruptions were expected today in what was to be the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) officer’s biggest day for stop work action. This has been avoided after pressure from the Australian Government with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull urging the union to reconsider striking.
Planned industrial action is part of the DIBP staff’s two year battle over pay and conditions. They are now due to commence next Tuesday 29th March. These strikes will not only affect travelers but also cargo and mail operations.
