The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has received further notices from the Community and Public Sector Union (CSPU) that some employees of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection including the Australian Border Force, who are members of the union, will take part in protected industrial action at various work sites from 26 September – 9 October 2016.
Rolling stoppages by staff across the Department of Immigration and Border Protection at international airports, cruise ship terminals, cargo facilities and elsewhere across the Department are due to begin on Monday September 26 until Sunday October 2, with further action planned as needed.
Another notification issued extends the stoppages by one week from Monday 3 October to Sunday 9 October. This timing meets the requirement for seven days advance notice for industrial action as required by the Fair Work Act.
This is the most intense and widespread action undertaken by the CPSU members to date in order to force a resolution to the bargaining dispute that has run for more than 1000 days.
CPSU National Secretary Nadine Flood said: “CPSU members are doubling down on industrial action in order to send a clear message to the Turnbull Government that they have to do something to end this 1000 day dispute.
