Importer Insight Bulletin

The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia (CBFCA) have recently issued several informative factsheets to assist importers in fostering a better understanding of the way that the supply chain operates.

In order for the importing community to maximise benefits, these documents are critical to ensure the efficient flow of goods in the international trade process.  It is also extremely important to be aware of your regulatory compliance.

The International trade Logistics – container regulatory compliance factsheet covers topics such as what is a container x-ray and it’s importance to the community.  It also goes through where the Container Examination Facilities are located, and what happens if your cargo is damaged during these exams.  Empty containers are also a covered topic in this sheet.  Along with who is responsible for detention costs and also the mismatch of operating hours between the stevedores and empty container parks.

The Importer international trade risks and costs factsheet covers importer trade risks and costs, the role of a service provider and also the role of the importer and mitigation of risk in international trade.

These are both great reads and are critical in understanding the supply chain. Spend some time going through them today.

If you have any questions regarding these documents, please do not hesitate to contact Phil Gray – Customs Manager today.
