Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) officers have been busy again, this time intercepting the importation of approx 2.6 litres of cocaine.

A parcel was intercepted at the Sydney International Mail Facility on the 12th May.

The package originated in Brazil and was manifested as a cask of wine. Upon examination it appeared to be tampered with.

ACBPS carried out testing of the liquid, which tested positive for cocaine.

The case was then referred to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for their further investigation.

Following on from the investigation, a 33-year old man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the facilitating the importation of a border controlled drug.

If found guilty, the man faces a maximum penalty of  life imprisonment and / or a $1,275,000 fine.
